Parents have so many dreams about their children’s future. Their biggest wish is that their children should study well, get a good education, become self-reliant, have a good personality and live with respect in society.
But new challenges are facing today’s generation. Mobiles, social networking sites, online games, gambling apps and harmful digital content are having a huge impact on children’s attention, time and mind. Having an expensive mobile or brand is not the criterion for success; knowledge, discipline, hard work, culture and a good personality are the real wealth.
Today’s education system should not be limited to grades and jobs alone, but should also instill humanity, sense of duty, self-control, truthfulness and life values ​​in children. It is also necessary to introduce books and ideas that introduce our culture and morality to children according to their age. Children should get the opportunity to understand the values ​​of life in various knowledge-based books including the Bhagavad Gita from a human perspective, without dividing them in the name of religion.
 It is not right to say that mobile phones are bad. If used for the right purpose, they are a great tool for knowledge, education, communication and opportunities. But uncontrolled use can be dangerous. Age-appropriate digital controls, parental guidance and a safe online environment are especially necessary for children.
A small stubbornness, a moment of anger, a desire for an expensive item or the pressure of the online world should not end a precious life. If you lose a mobile phone, you can buy another; if you lose money, you can earn it again; but if you lose a life, you cannot get it back.
Therefore, the first lesson we need to teach children is:
“Things are for our life; life is not for things.”
Parents should give their children time, love, interaction, culture and proper guidance rather than just giving them expensive mobile phones.
Educational institutions should not only impart knowledge but also develop the courage to face life and a good personality. The government should also take stricter measures regarding children's digital safety, age limits, gambling-type apps and harmful online content control.
Let children have mobile phones — but children's lives should not be in their hands.
The dream of a family grows with a child. Saving that child's life is not just the responsibility of the parents; it is the responsibility of the family, educational institutions, society, technology companies, and the government — everyone.
